Feaster[edit]

This is a disambiguation page, listing related articles. I've raised some concerns at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation#Should dab pages have infoboxes?. It should follow our guidelines at WP:DAB and MOS:DAB. The MOS (manual of style) page says " In brief, the pages should contain only disambiguation content". It's a dab page because it isn't just a surname page, it has a place on it. Even if it were a surname page, you'd still need links to articles. I don't think there's any chance of an article for the South Carolina John Feater, see WP:People. The 'notes' don't belong there at all, nor does the infobox. Your link to Vassy is to another dab page, we don't have an article on this surname, nor any evidence that Feaster is related to it. Dougweller (talk) 15:25, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop assuming ownership of articles such as Feaster. Doing so may lead to disruptive behavior such as edit wars and is a violation of policy, which may lead to your being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please revert to the encyclopedic version. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Feaster. Users who edit disruptively or refuse to collaborate with others may be blocked if they continue. As much information as conforms to the five pillars (WP:PILLARS), yes, we can compromise. No, you probably can't set up a new page on Wikipedia about the Feaster family (WP:NOTDIRECTORY -- Wikipedia is not a genealogical reference) -- Feaster, an entry about the surname, is the appropriate place for the appropriate information. (You could set up a new page on a genealogy site about the Feaster family. http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.feaster/mb.ashx , for example.) The information on Wikipedia needs to be encyclopedic, which means notable and verifiable in reliable sources, not original research. -- JHunterJ (talk) 17:19, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't say that it's "Original Research", as you can see, the University of South Carolina is a source for much of the information. Also, I will add a book for one of the sources.

Actually, I never explicitly stated and intent to "ignore the pillars", how you interpret that is your thing, and most certainly not my problem, maybe you should reconsider and learn the meaning of "stated intention", also, I know bypasses (how you interpret this is your opinion).

Wow, you actually blocked me indefinitely, all for some dispute over my family's page, don't you two (Dougweller and JHunterJ) have better stuff to do? Maybe get a wife or girlfriend. I'll just start up some new accounts and edit Feaster with those. (don't ever tell me about my family you J.O.s)

Original research[edit]

You really must read WP:NOR and WP:VERIFY before you start editing again. You may know your family, but we need reliable sources (also see WP:RS and these don't include House of Names, personal websites, etc. Please read the other guidelines and policies you've been asked to read. We welcome your input, but basically this is an encyclopedia built on what reliable sources (by our criteria) have to say about a subject that is notable (again by our criteria). You're not editing about your family, you're editing an article about a last name. When your family members become notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia, somebody else will write about them using third party reliable sources.
