WikiProject update - Performing Arts Aotearoa 19 August[edit]

A short update this time.
The project has created 74 new Wikipedia articles and improvements to many. An example is one person has been working through improving and creating notable composers of New Zealand which is a great enhancement to Wikipedia. There is a now a regular meetup happening in Ōtepoti from the edit-a-thon there.

The COVID19 status of New Zealand means the next workshop is fully online. Wellington Saturday 21 August
Please add yourself to the project page and dashboard of you are able to do any editing. You can join into the zoom (link below) – come to the introduction at 10.30am, pop into the ‘Tearoom’ to say hello to others and informally ask questions, or you can work by yourself.

Here is a google doc with suggested articles categories as 'dance' and 'theatre' with links to references.

Publishing a new page[edit]

Hi Sootarina,

Instructions for making a new page in your user space, so you can work on it before it "goes public":

  1. Click on the "Sootarina" link at the very top of your Wikipedia page, this takes you to your user page.
  2. The URL of your user page reads en.wikipedia.org/User:Sootarina We want to edit that URL to create a new page within user space.
  3. Edit the URL of the page you are at to read en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:/Sootarina/New article title
  4. You'll get to a screen that says this page doesn't exist and asks if you want to create it, click the "create page" link.
  5. You can now edit the page and save it.
  6. It is a good idea to create a link to the new page from your user page so you don't forget that you made it! Copy the link from the top of your new page, then go back to your user page (click on the Sootarina link at the top of the page).
  7. Choose edit, and then somewhere on the page type the name of the new page you just created, and then create link on those words, and paste in the URL that you copied. (You can also just start typing the URL, the link will read "User:/Sootarina/New article title here".)
  8. Once you have saved your user page, it should have a link to your new page that you can then work on at your leisure. Once it is ready to be part of the main Wikipedia, we "move" the page into article space (I'll show you how).

Let me know if you have any questions! DrThneed (talk) 23:32, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on David O'Donnell requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. - RichT|C|E-Mail 00:55, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Martyn Roberts moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Martyn Roberts, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Concern regarding Draft:Martyn Roberts[edit]

Information icon Hello, Sootarina. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:Martyn Roberts, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Drafts that have not been edited for six months may be deleted, so if you wish to retain the page, please edit it again or request that it be moved to your userspace.

If the page has already been deleted, you can request it be undeleted so you can continue working on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 15:01, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:51, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
