Hey there[edit]

Hey, welcome to Wikipedia!

I noticed you moved the page 1996 world oil market chronology to 1996 in oil. This is not wrong in itself, but I have a couple notes:

1. This move was done without any discussion. Generally before a move is done, it is good to discuss it on the talk page.

2. This article is part of a series that all follows the previous format. If you really think this page should be renamed, it would make sense for the whole series to be renamed. If this is your desire, please open up that discussion, and if it is decided to make the move, I and others can help do it.

In general, just try to discuss moves before doing them and, when done, make them consistent. Thanks a lot for your edits, with proper manners this can really be a better place.

Your move[edit]

Don't worry, nothing was "messed up." I reverted the move for the time being so it would be consistent with the series. That really was the thing that stuck out to me - all others were named "XXXX world oil market chronology" and this was "XXXX in oil." Personally, I think a mix of the two would be good.

As for starting a discussion, you can just start one up and wait a week or so. If no one complains, then the move is probably pretty safe. In any case, while this move is not "controversial" and involves pages rarely visited, it is a move that affects many pages. For that reason I might make a new post on the Wikipedia:Requested moves page.

If the move is made, it would have to be done for the whole series for consistency. Whatever ends up happening, don't stop being bold in making edits - things can always be changed/reverted. I'm also fairly new at this, and it's taken me a while to get my bearings here. Personally I find it amazing that thousands of people and millions of edits can end up being as good as Wikipedia is... you'd think it'd be chaos. I think the set etiquette, though sometimes cumbersome, is what makes it work.

Anyway, we can start a discussion about it and if a change is decided, we'll figure out the details.

License tagging for Image:CrossTecCorpLogo.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CrossTecCorpLogo.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:05, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:ACM LOGO.jpg)[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:ACM LOGO.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 15:27, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:CrossTecCorpLogo.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CrossTecCorpLogo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Thank you. Typos on your User Page[edit]

As a self-professed "good copyeditor" don't you think that you should demonstrate this by not making errors on your User Page?

"I sounds fairly nice…" – should probably be "It sounds fairly nice…"
"I spend a lot of time do that…" – should probably be "I spend a lot of time doing that…"
