Copyright violations[edit]

Hi! I'm writing to tell you that I've moved the page in question to your userspace so you can work on it. You can find it here: User:Ngmor1/Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria.

Now as far as copyright violations go, you cannot and I repeat CANNOT use anything that has been printed elsewhere. It doesn't matter if you wrote the content yourself, you cannot use anything that has been printed elsewhere. There are multiple reasons for this that you can read over at WP:COPYVIO, but ultimately the end is still the same: you can't post anything that has been placed elsewhere even if you say you wrote it. It's better to rephrase and rewrite it. When it comes to creating articles, there is very little wiggle room for copyvio and zero tolerance, as you can see. Copyvio can result in an article getting speedy deleted.

Why I moved it to your userspace to work on is because there might be some notability here. I'll warn you that not all branches of a notable organizations are notable in and of themselves. I can see where the main organization (Australian Institute of International Affairs) has an article, but you'll have to really work to show that the Victoria branch has independent notability. Be aware that notability is not inherited (WP:NOTINHERITED) by the group being a branch of the main AIIA or by notable persons having been involved with the group. You have to show notability by giving independent and reliable sources to show that this specific branch has received in-depth coverage in reliable sources. I've got more on all of the specific requirements of notability here.

Offhand I'll be honest and say that even without the copyvio problems you'll have a pretty uphill battle showing notability for a specific branch of a larger organization. I highly recommend that you get someone from one of the various WikiProjects such as Wikipedia:WikiProject International relations to help you look for sources.
