Hello, I was wondering why it is so serious to add a portrait of a male? There is enough room and I think it adds a nice balance. I don't see anyone else having a problem but you. Please inform. Thank You. C.Kent87 20:46, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very Well, thank you for clearing it up for me...I just thought a male picture would help, and it is a nice one. Thanks again, the article is well done. C.Kent87 23:06, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Miguelemejia! You do some great work on the Russian royals. When you start a page about Mikhail Pavlovich (the youngest son of Paul I), please let me know. It's the one Grand Duke I care about. Best, Ghirla-трёп- 14:12, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Oldenburg article[edit]

I have 12 editions of the "Yearbook of the Imperial Theatres" from Tsarist St. Petersburg - in these books (for seasons 1850-1851, 1857-1858, 1860-1861, 1861-1862, 1862-1863, 1890-1891, 1895-1896, 1896-1897, 1899-1900, 1901-1902, 1904-1905, 1914-1915) in 1857-1858 edition he is refered to as Grand Duke Pytr von Oldenburg. The yearbooks are in french - the official language of the Imperial court, as well as Russian (cryllic). His ballet "The Rose the Violet and the Butterfly" credits him in the libretto as "Pyotr Konstantin Petrovich, Grand Duke of Oldenburg". I dont known why so I just tyoed it as such.....pretty weird.

Anyway, thanks for corrections (I am NOTORIOUS for typos) - if I have any questions regarding Russian royalty, Ill ask you!!!!!

I have a question - do you known about a noble of the Russian court by the name of Prince Nikita Trubetskoi? He wrote a ballet for Marius Petipa in 1883 titled Pygmalion or The Cyprus Statue. Thasnks :)

Oldenburg article[edit]

Hello -

Thanks for your reply! Yes, please expand on the Oldenburg article!

Regarding the dancers Catherine Chislova and Anna Vasilievna Kousnetzova, I have never heard of them before! Many Ballerinas were mistresses to Grand Dukes.

I must correct the following statement made in the Chislova article - "She became a dancer at the Krasnoye Selo Theater." The Imperial Theatre of Krasnoe Selo (which was part of the circle of venues which made up the St. Petersburg Imperial Theatres) was only in use primarily during the summer months when the ballet and opera season at the Imperial Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre (principal theatre until 1886), and later the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre (after 1886) were over until the fall. Ballet history is infested with misconceptons and incorrect information, and often even very reliable sources often give incorrect info due to teh obscure nature of ballet history.

Any ballet dancers who took part in perfromances at Krasnoe Selo were members of the Imperial Ballet, which is today known as the Kirov or Mariinsky Ballet.
