Thanks for the sharp new images. I removed the Chris Dallo image but put back in the image with Jackie smiling and waving at the audience because it shows a characteristic of the performer not shown in the other images. Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:34, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's a great point, and I agree completely! I was hoping you'd feel free to move the images around to help the article out better than my quick insertions. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 19:00, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help. If you know of any free images of Jackie from America's Got Talent or earlier, that would be really great, because all of the images we have are from late 2010 or 2011. In the article for Prelude to a Dream there is an early photo from the cover of the album, but I know from experience that if I put that in the main Jackie article, someone would take it down eventually. All the best, and Happy New Year! -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:32, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. An album cover is used under the fair use act, and only because it pertains explicitly to the article at hand and (technically) the album cover needs to be discussed as well (though many articles don't actually follow this policy because people probably aren't aware of it). Wikipedia strives to be completely free, meaning ultimately, the goal is to have free images (in your article), just as the text is free (it's all licensed under Creative Commons). I'll keep my eyes out for earlier images of Jackie, though. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 03:57, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I must say that I don't really like the new image. I really thought that we had enough images from post-AGT, and it's not a particularly flattering image of the subject, taken from above like that. We still need an early image - from 2009 or earlier. But I'd rather take our time than put into the article images that we don't love.... Just my 2 cents. -- Ssilvers (talk) 07:54, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Ssilvers. I haven't had much time to tweak it further—I was going to diminish some features on her face (bags under eyes, e.g.) and tone down the skin warming, but I'll get to it in a couple of days. It's the only JE image I've been able to procure; haven't had luck finding older images, unfortunately. Can we keep the image up at least for a short while? I'd like to get some mileage out of it at least for a little bit! I agree it isn't up to par with some of the best images, but the choices are slim at the moment! – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 08:06, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, if you can do those things, I guess that would be better. But whenever you can bring yourself to do so, I would recommend that you just take it down. There really are plenty of images in that part of the article, and a photographer named Joe Duerr will eventually take more nice ones that I can get him to release under the CC 3.0 license. The Evanchos are afraid of Jackie looking too pretty during the meet & greet sessions, as they have received unfair criticism for letting her wear make-up and dresses (!). As you can see, they are now making sure that she meets fans with uncombed hair and dressed as plainly as possible. This is rather a sad result of unfair press and blog criticism. Here's an example of a nice fan photo from an earlier Meet & Greet (can you view it?): https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10100623183062949&set=a.990125797809.2719391.838860&type=3&theater (but we Wikipedians do not have rights to use it). Thanks! All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:46, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure I follow what you're saying. If the JE article is under some sort of scrutiny by the Evanchos, then it sounds like there may be a conflict of interest involved. I won't remove the image simply because the Evanchos think she looks unkempt in it (which I don't think she does). Wikipedia is not an advertisement, as you know. It's a source of information, and here is a picture of her off-stage, looking down-to-earth and approachable, which readers may be interested in viewing. I do know that celebrities have asked for images to be removed when they're downright offensive—but there's nothing offensive here. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 06:25, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. There is no COI - I've been editing on Wikipedia since 2006 and never heard of Evancho until a few months ago. See my user page. I'm saying that I think it's a relatively unattractive photo of this subject, compared to the thousands of other photos of her that exist in the world. -- Ssilvers (talk) 07:17, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah okay, I wasn't sure where you were going with the Evanchos thing, sorry. I removed the photo, because I agree with you and I see it just doesn't hold up to the standards of the other images—I needed to look at it a few times. If I have time in the future, I may tweak it and will get in touch with you to see what you think. I'm going to be a bit busier this week than I anticipated, so this is low priority now. I did glance at your user page as you requested (lol, I'm also not sure what you were going for there—I believe you when you say you've been editing since 2006), but apparently you're a major contributor to many G&S articles. I was reading "Trial by Jury" only last week (not as an editor, but because I was listening to it), and skimmed "HMS Pinafore" a few months ago. Fantastic articles. At any rate, let's consider this matter closed. Perhaps if I come across more images in the future, I can enlist your opinion before I upload them, to see what their potential use would be? Lemme know what you think. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 07:53, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Yes, I've worked steadily at the G&S articles with a few other people, and we would Ideally like to get all of the G&S operas to FA level, but that's a very long-term project. Happy to discuss images at any time. All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:07, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:One final albums run?[edit]

Hi Keraunoscopia, I am very sorry about not replying to your post on my talk page. I must admit, the Album task is somewhat demanding. I am a novice programmer and there are so many things that vary from one article to the next, I can never be sure if the bot won't screw up pages. That being said, I have some time off next week, so I expect to have a period of time within the next 7 days to sit down and really concentrate on this task. I feel so bad that it has taken me so long to deal with this, its just that the task requires me to focus for long continuous amounts of time. I haven't yet had time to really grind this out, but hopefully will be able to soon. Also, just incase I disappear again, I'll make sure to publish the source and license it so that others can use it if need be. Again, sorry. You people are too patient :) --Tim1357 talk 16:34, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tim, thanks so much for your words! Please don't fret about it, we (or I) just didn't have any idea what was going on on your end of things. For one, I had no idea how demanding that task is. I can't even imagine how much work it must be to code a bot and tweak it and fret over thousands of edits made instantaneously. I was merely hoping for some communication as to where we stood with the bot. If you have time to work on it, that would be fantastic—but if you have higher priorities, then at least let us know so we know where the situation stands. I hope you don't think we aren't insanely grateful for what you've done so far! – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 07:26, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jackie Evancho image proposed for deletion[edit]

Hi. I am letting you know about this, because you have assisted in finding images for the Jackie Evancho article. I have received a notice that the fair use image of Evancho with President Obama at the National Christmas Tree lighting is proposed for deletion. I am arguing that it is a unique, historic image, because (1) Evancho was one of the youngest people (probably the youngest) ever to sing a solo at the event; and (2) the event was important to Evancho's career, since Evancho just began her career recently. I believe that the image clearly and substantially adds to the understanding of a reader of the article. Near the image, the article says "On December 9, 2010, Evancho performed at the National Christmas Tree lighting event in Washington, D.C., singing "O Holy Night", with President Obama and his family present.[78] If you wish to add to the discussion, either way, it is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Files_for_deletion/2012_March_23#File:EvanchoPresSanta.jpg -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:33, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Stone Temple Pilots[edit]

  • Hey, I saw you promoted the STP album article to "good" quality. If you're a fan, I'm gonna be cleaning up the Stone Temple Pilots article. I could use some help! Bly1993 (talk) 01:27, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Bly1993, I'm very happy to see the STP article will soon get some TLC! It was a goal of mine (long ago) to bring their main article up to GA, but I got side-tracked with other projects, both here and in the real world. Unfortunately, I no longer have the time to devote myself to any large Wiki projects, but I may be able to look in every once in a while. Good luck, though! – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 07:26, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Watchlist - faded unchanged?[edit]

Hi, I saw you commented about the faded unchanged entries on the Watchlist. What do I put in my .css to enable that? I didn't see code for it at Wikipedia:Customizing_watchlists... thanks. Zad68 19:39, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zad68. Add importScript('User:Equazcion/ReverseMarked.js'); to your your skin's .js page or your common.js page). Hope this helps! – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 07:51, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers, mate, will give it a try. Zad68 13:23, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Ten (Pearl Jam) album cover.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Ten (Pearl Jam) album cover.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)[edit]

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.

At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).

Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.

If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:22, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia talk:Reference desk#Removal of "answered" closure Nil Einne (talk) 06:44, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Keraunoscopia, I hope that you did not take my action or comment as criticism - I had the impression (which you confirmed) in your nice note on the RD Talk page) that your use of the "answered" template was completely in good faith. I should have come to your talk page as Nil Einne did above, and apologize for not doing so. Cheers! -- Scray (talk) 16:21, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all, Scray—every "involved" visit to Wikipedia (rather than just being a reader/researcher) is a learning experience. Already, your point has brought up a nice discussion, which I'm following. I appreciate your "re-opening" my question very much, in fact. : ) – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 07:06, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
