Welcome![edit]

Hi, BlueSharkLagoon! I've noticed your edits to WikiProject Orphanage and wanted to extend to you a warm welcome! We can always use more editors helping with the backlog. I looked over a couple of your most recent edits – you're going above and beyond with adding referenced content along with the links, well done! Just a note for that: is there a reason you aren't removing the corresponding {{orphan}} template from the orphaned article? If you'd like another pair of eyes on articles you de-orphan to make sure they're all good, that's fine! Otherwise, be bold to remove the template and shorten the backlog. (Apologies if you already knew this, ignore me if I'm being repetitive.)
Also just wanted to let you know after seeing a couple edit summaries, since WP:WikiProject Orphanage is on my watchlist: I doubt the vast majority of people who use their watchlist don't have notifications on as far as I know – there are far too many edits a day for that. It just shows up as a link to the most recent difference in article/page edits, so no need to worry about that!
One more thing: you've got a fantastic mentor in Firefangledfeathers, so I doubt you'll ever need me, but if you ever would like, feel free to drop by my talk page with questions or anything. :)
Happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 23:26, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting me know I was supposed to remove the tag. I erroneously thought a bot took care of this, so I'll go back and edit all the pages and check if they've not been removed. Yes, Firefangledfeathers has been an amazing mentor so far. I'll have a look at which areas you and Firefangledfeathers are most active in, and I'll drop my queries whichever of you will best assist me!
If you look at my user page, I've made a table of articles I'm going to put up for deletion, is it good or bad practice to de-orphan these articles too? I think it would be a waste of time to try and even de-orphan articles that will probably be deleted. BlueSharkLagoon (talk) 12:10, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for such a late response! I’m traveling and I’ve been a bit busy. There have been conversations on the talk page of the Orphan WikiProject about letting a bot remove tags, but I don’t believe it has been implemented at this time – likely it would need more consensus. Hopefully that will occur later, but so far it’s all us. :)
I honestly am not quite sure about articles to be deleted (Articles for Deletion, abbreviated AfDs) since I haven’t worked much in that area. However, I usually just figure anything that makes the encyclopedia better at any point in time is an improvement and just go ahead with the edits. Since AfDs generally run for seven days, you could also wait to see the outcome if you like.
Let me know if you have any other questions, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 06:26, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
