golden age 'of' hip hop

why'd you make this move? Nothing links to golden age 'of' hip hop, because that phrase isn't used. per Wikipedia:Naming conventions, the more common phrase should be the article name. unfortunately, since you made this move, we can't move it back without an admin. please don't do this to old school hip hop, and please post this on Wikipedia:Requested moves to be moved back. Thanks, --Urthogie 17:05, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be happy to move it back if you want me to do so immediately. I have to disagree, though, that "golden age hip hop" is used more. Letting "golden age hip hop" be no (don't include "of") and "golden age of hip hop" be yes (include "of"):
  • no gives 8 unique results in main space
  • yes gives 10 unique results in main space
  • no not yes gives 2 unique results in main space
  • yes not no gives 7 unique results in main space
I did change Template:hiphop to link to "golden age of hip hop," but I don't think this affected the Google results.
My initial reason for moving was that the "golden age hip hop" article started with (and still does start with) "The golden age of hip hop, derivative of old school hip hop..." Upon further reflection, another reason for the change is that "golden age of hip hop" is a noun, while "golden age hip hop" is an adjective; adjectives should redirect to nouns per Wikipedia:Naming_conventions#Redirect_adjectives_to_nouns. And "golden age hip hop" just sounds wrong to me. What do you think?
I think I've been keeping up with the double redirects. Let me know if I miss any. TheJabberwock 17:53, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, good points. I'm gonna move it to The golden age of hip hop, though.--Urthogie 12:05, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Hello, I noticed you edited a Hip Hop related article. If you wish you can join the new Hip Hop Wikiproject.

--Chubdub 17:13, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Changes

He, I noticed your changes to Grade School and for the most part they are great. The only problem is this code:

|-
|[[<article name>]]
|~~~~~
|{{<template name>}}
|<comments>
|~~~

I would discourage from using ~~~~~. Since I think the date looks neater when typed.

  • Manual: April 19, 2006
  • Template: 02:14, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

What do you think? &#150; Tutmøsis (Talk) 02:14, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I replied on the talk page. TheJabberwock 04:06, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Illmatic

Hello. I would like to thank you for all your contributions to the wkikhiphop project. However, I was wondering if you could proof read the article for any "innapropriate" or "unencylcpediec" words (Despite, In fact etc). This appears to be one of the reasons why a user has opposed the article's nomination --Chubdub 20:55, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for all the work! Chubdub 01:13, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Illmatic

As a official publication, I think it looks more formal capitalized. Besides, the table would look pretty bad if there is mixed capitalization. P.O.N.Y. 01:19, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. You're right. Both words need to be capitalized. Mistake on my part P.O.N.Y. 01:26, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rapping article

The Subject matter section of the rapping article is in need of an immediate organizational clean-up. Quite frankly, it looks like a mess and is difficult to read (which was the primary reason why people opposed it during its FA-candidancy. Do you have any suggestions or alternatives to change its current format? Thanks! Chubdub 10:07, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good work! The text is sooo much easier to read now. Alhtough the section (in fact, the entire article in general) could use some more references before we nominate it for FA-status. Chubdub 12:55, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Karmafist

I think you should add to your Karmafist page the fact that Jimbo Wales de-sysoped him, because he unblocked a user. Look at the block log. Also, I think you should add Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Karmafist. --GeorgeMoney T·C 03:03, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My sig

I changed it, because of this --GeorgeMoney T· C 04:24, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that User:Jaberwocky6669 has a name really close to yours. Are you two related in any way? --GeorgeMoney T·C 21:23, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, Jabberwocky is a real thing? I thought you made it up or something... --GeorgeMoney T·C 22:39, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Will you join My Picture of the Day? The reason I have it, is so images that aren't Featured quality can still be featured. Anybody can put a picture there. All you have to do is pick a day for your picture, and create a page in "User:GeorgeMoney/Month DayNumber, Year". Then, use the following format: Put {{SUBST:User:GeorgeMoney/potd/template|image=Your image.jpg|width=500px (optional)|description=<an optional description>|size=250px (optional)|user=Your Username}} on the page of the day you are creating (Remember for all of the optional variables that you don't use, totally remove them from the syntax). Then all you have to do is put {{User:GeorgeMoney/potd}} on your userpage, and it will automatically make the picture for the day. If you want to have it show your picture forever, put {{User:GeorgeMoney/potd|May 47, 2009}}. Replace "May 47, 2009" with the day your picture will be on.

Also, can you add your name to My Spamlist? Don't worry, my spam isn't bad and annoying like the Esperanza and Community Justice spam. My spam is just news and events in plain text formatting like this.

Thanks, --GeorgeMoney T·C 02:12, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I joined the Spamlist out of curiosity, but I don't upload pix, and I don't have a POTD on my userpage. Thanks for asking. TheJabberwʘck 02:53, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The golden age of hip hop for deletion?

I see that The golden age of hip hop is up for deletion. I wonder what you think of this. P.O.N.Y. 17:17, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rapping articleaa

do you think the rapping article is ready for Featured Article Nomination? Chubdub 19:34, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Controversial edits...

Hey, yeah. I originally added all those edits to the Hip Hop page, but they were reverted and it was asked that I move them to History of hip hop music. So I did, and moved everything that I felt didn't belong to rap's history--such as various other styles, and everything involving international stuff. I feel like the history page is fine the way it is and--if it warrants--we could start redoing the main hip hop page, though I'm not so sure it's needed. PCP MC

Old School Hip Hop

I see. Well I'm not very much of an expert on early '80's or Old School, though I know a little bit (i.e. what I added to that section). I pretty much poured the extent of my knowledge into the History article, though I guess the more specific details could be deferred to their own articles (in the vein of the gangsta rap article vs. its section in the main Hip Hop article)...I have no opposition to that. Thanks for the award, by the way, heheh. PCP MC

G-funk

Thanks for your support over G-funk and for the Barnstar. It's nice to see that you like my edits. Tim Ivorson 2006-06-16

Re: Hip hop history

The reason I tagged the article is because it refers to made up eras in hip hop music (i.e "Bling" era 1998–2001), that are subjective.

PS...Sorry it took so long to reply. I haven't been reading my messages often...and any chance you get, you should try to clean up the Enta Da Stage article. It has a lot of potiental to become a featured article. All it needs is a bit of a tone-down on language and "weasly words". Chubdub 20:53, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So, what do you say? Chubdub 14:41, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The citation what is necessary relating to the G-Funk article what I added to

Crap...I read the thing in a book by Russel Simmons called Straight Out of Hollis, and I'm not sure how to cite books here. But that's not a very controversial bit of info, it's easily verifiable if only one looked at the sample credits. . . . PCP MC

Smashing. PCP MC 03:40, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Arg! It seems I was misled. The chapter is in a book called Queens Reigns Supreme by Ethan Brown, subtitle "Fat Cat, 50 Cent and the Rise of the Hip-Hop Hustler"; the chapter is called Straight Outta Hollis, which I took to mean something about Russel Simmons and was a mistake. But here, http://aycu28.webshots.com/image/1907/1638975355294138227_rs.jpg

That's a scan from the book, on the first page is the passage that says Dre used only one sample a song. Hah!

This so-called List of G-Funk Artists

I have noticed has not yet been and seems unlikely to soon be erected. I hope you'd not mind if I had a go at it? PCP MC 21:45, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Aw. Took all the fun out of it and shit. :P PCP MC 21:09, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. Recently, I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. I am now writing to usernames on the hiphopWP who might be interested in helping with the punkmusicWP. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk as has been done well with hip hop. Finally, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 08:30, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
