How do you get vandal proof? Politics rule

Member Quatloo is out of control

This member is not only flipflopping on copyright issues, but acting as an administrator, removing copyright notices, re-rating articles, and generally causing trouble where they can.

  • Accusing me of being a sock for someone. [1]
  • Removing copyvio tags (three times in two days), which clearly say: "Do not edit this article until it has been resolved by an ADMINISTRATOR." Is Quatloo an administrator now? [2]
  • Changing article rating, also an administrative act. [3]

The member Quatloo seems to be having fun at many other peoples' expense, and acting as his/her personal moderation & administration team on Wikipedia. Is this allowed? Not to even get into the civility issues, which are evident from their contributions history. [4] Suggest indefinite block of this member, so serious editors can have a chance to work.

Wow, I heard you had ignored this, but I didn't think it would be this obvious. You need to deal with issues that arise instead of ignoring them. They DON'T go away. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.82.58.52 (talk) 04:33, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

New to VandalProof

Hi, I was recently approved by Betacommand to use VandalProof. However, once I downloaded the 136 zip file and VP137.exe file, I cannot log in. The program can locate my username and password, however, it says: "No priviliges found." Also, I clicked on the button Verify Authorisation, yet it still didn't work. Can you please help? Thanks. σмgнgσмg 09:03, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Discussion

Hi Daniel, some questions are discussed in User talk:AmiDaniel/VP/Discuss. But most of them are still unanswered. Please take a look on those issues. Thank you--NAHID 13:48, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

You've been quoted

Hi AmiDaniel. I thought it important to notify you that you've been quoted at WP:ANI#Sri_Lanka.2FLTTE_blocks_-_reviewed (from the Village Pump discussion we had). I thought I should notify you, lest your statements be taken out of context. It's a fairly long thread, but your comments are conveniently in bold in the second or third screen.--chaser - t 02:48, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice. I thumbed through the convo, and I don't seem to have been misrepresented / misunderstood. If I can be of any other help, don't hesitate to ask. AmiDaniel (talk) 19:20, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for the revert to my user talk page :) Much appreciated! Lloydpick 00:21, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

208.108.145.30

Can you check this IP (my school's proxy server) for an open proxy (probably on 8080)? A similar IP near me, 208.108.95.6, was found to be an open proxy, and 145.30 runs the same filtering software as that IP. Thanks! Nwwaew (Talk Page) (Contribs) (E-mail me) 13:26, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I listed it on WP:OP, but thanks anyways. Nwwaew (Talk Page) (Contribs) (E-mail me) 13:30, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Also, I'd like to become a verified user of the Wikiproject- would you be able to make me one? Thanks! Nwwaew (Talk Page) (Contribs) (E-mail me) 13:45, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
No open proxies I can find. It is running an http proxy on 8080 and a squid on 3128, but both ports are filtered, and the connection is refused when I attempt to connect to them. 208.108.95.6 is, however, running an open proxy server on 8080, and while I'm able to connect to it, it's incredibly, incredibly slow. As for becoming a verified proxy checker, you're going to need to demonstrate your ability to thoroughly check hosts for open proxies--which requires doing a lot more than simply analyzing an nmap result or checking sorbs lists. Do you have any experience in IT or with network security? AmiDaniel (talk) 18:06, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
I have a lot of experience with using open proxies, in order to get around the school web filters. I've also studied up on Squid and HTTPGET proxies. Nwwaew (Talk Page) (Contribs) (E-mail me) 20:46, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Partly Approved

Hi, I am sorry to contact you on here but me and a few others were approved for VP on the 20th October but it appears the list was not updated so that we are not being allowed to log in. I have tried many other places for help which have not been responded to. Please can you help as I am eager to try this software? Many thanks DoyleyTalk 17:30, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Vandal Proof

I run a wiki that is being plagued with daily vandalism, (bondpedia.net). I'm looking to create some sort of bot that'll revert IP address edits, but I'm completely stuck. Can you help me? I just have absolutely no experience with these things.

Thanks
