1. Winners of PGA Championship or U.S. Open prior to 1970 or in the last 10 calendar years (Beginning in 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

Bryson DeChambeau moved to this category after his U.S. Open win. Phil Mickelson and Jon Rahm moved to this category after their wins and extended their exemptions to 2021. Johnson's Masters win meant he would move to cat 3 in 2024. Thomas's Players win meant he would move to cat 2 in 2024. Koepka extended his exemption to 2026, in which year he would move to cat 10. Spieth extended his through 2024, in which year he would move to cat 10.

2. Winners of the THE PLAYERS Championship in the last 10 calendar years. (Beginning In 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

Kim extended his exemption to 2024, in which year he would move to cat 10.

3. Winners of the Masters Tournament in the last 10 calendar years. (Beginning in 1998, this is a five-year exemption.)

Hideki Matsuyama was promoted to this category after his win and earned an exemption through 2026. García extended his exemption to 2024, in which season he would fall to cat 10.

Those finishing below 150th were Lewis, Brown, An, Shelton, Harrington, Zhang, Danny Lee, Cauley, and Blair. Cauley and Blair received major medical extensions, and Danny Lee a minor. Chalmers's extension expired in October, Points's in May, Huh's in June, and O'Hair's and Frazar's in July; all fell to past champion status, but Huh made it through the Finals. Villegas's expired in March, but he had earned conditional status and fell to the conditional category; he finished in the 126–150 range and maintained conditional status in 2022. Murray's expired in February and he fell to the reshuffle category, eventually receiving another medical extension for 2022. Lovemark's expired in June and he became a non-member. Grayson Murray fell to this category in February after his medical extension expired; he received another medical extension for 2022.

Zalatoris accepted membership for 2022. Zalatoris accepted STM in November and MacIntyre in August. Bezuidenhout, Herbert, Rai, Smalley, and Theegala were successful in the Finals; MacIntyre, Suh, Schniederjans, and Bhatia were not. Matthias Schwab and Kurt Kitayama were eligible for the Finals based on non-member points earned in 2020; both were successful in the Finals. Pendrith graduated from the Korn Ferry Tour.
