Tondari Hanetari[edit]

Tondari Hanetari originated in Tokyo during the Edo era [1]. The figurines are made of wood and bamboo. The play pattern is that the dolls jump and leap around when you swing the bamboo sticking out from the front is swung around to the back and held in place temporarily with pine resin1. Once the seal is broken the bamboo swings back around and causes the doll to leap like a spring.
