Anatomy[edit]

The preserved specimen's anatomy is as follows: From the pectoral fins to the anus, the midline is sharp and lobate; the body is covered in cycloid scales on the lateral line, each with a sharp central spine except the anterior ones; all fin rays are unbranched. The anal fin was absent; dorsal fin with 5 very elongated rays, one reduced ray, and 114 complete rays; dorsal fin had 5 very elongated rays, one reduced ray, and 114 complete rays; dorsal fin had 5 very elongated rays. The left and right pectoral fins have 12 and 11 rays, respectively; the pelvic fin has 9 rays; and there are 11 total gill rakers.
