Rename?[edit]

I propose that the article Turbo-electric transmission be renamed Steam turbine-electric transmission and that the article Turbine-electric transmission be renamed Gas turbine-electric transmission. For comparison, the article Diesel-electric transmission is not Piston engine-electric transmission. Biscuittin (talk) 18:37, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose per commonname.
Turbine-electric transmission is a lash-up thrown together out of random scraps (Why is it illustrated with a turbojet?) I don't much care what it's called, but it does seem limited in scope to gas turbines and there's no other obvious name. Andy Dingley (talk) 21:15, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Needs Separation More Specifics[edit]

See the article on Integrated electric propulsion. Many ships listed are actually IEP Platforms and not Turbo-electric transmission. IN Turbo-electric transmission- IMHO - only steam turbines to generator to motor to propulsion -and ships electrical plant is totally seperate Turbines or other prime- movers.
