Aparanner (Bananiyar) is not the site of Tigranakert[edit]
@TagaworShah @Werldwayd I apologize if I am bothering any of you in any way but I must have it be known that the location chosen for Tigranakert of Nakhijevan is incorrect. Suren Yeremyan places Tigranakert of Nakhijevan farther southeast along the Vandchay river, above today's Dəstə village (Dastakert) on his map. At the same time, he also places "Artavazdi Aparank" (Artavasdes' Palace) at the site of Bananiyar. While not directly mentioning the city, In Movses Khorenatsi's History of the Armenians, he writes about the conflict between Artavasdes I of Armenia and Argam Muratsean, the head of the Muratsean family, in book 2, chapter 51. In the end, Artavazd kills Argam and slaughters all the men of the Muratseans following a rebellion, except for a few who escaped, and confiscates Nakhchavan and all of the Muratsean villages, properties, palaces and fortresses in the region for himself. Much of the text written here is being misappropriated as the history of Tigranakert rather than the history of Artavazdi Aparank/Aparanner because of this error.
