Merger proposal[edit]

It has been proposed that Sea star wasting syndrome be merged into this article. That seems sensible to me. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:20, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support - They're the same thing! There's absolutely no need for two pages. Ulmanor (talk) 23:35, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - same thing, and this is the more common name.--PLNR (talk) 23:46, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Treatment section needs to be time-neutral[edit]

The paragraph uses terms like "now" and "last year" that will not age gracefully. Author seems to have been privy to some inside information on sea stars at Point Defiance zoo. Would be useful if author could be more clear about what's going on and when.

Update information under 'Causes' section with more relevant sources[edit]

Do the 1972 and 1978 plagues each need their own section? --Trustham02 (talk) 01:49, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Suggesting to make an update with more current information regarding potential factors contributing to or causing SSWD, last update appears to refer to studies from 2013/2014. See "As of November 2013, no identifiable cause for the disease had been found." Clamatochowder (talk) 04:00, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Added link in "Causes" to article on Densovirus association to mass wasting --Trustham02 (talk) 02:08, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Are there any other known locations that are effected? Is there any more information on potential treatment or solutions? I also think there should be a few more pictures. Will look into each. Culbert3002 (talk) 20:52, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Should cases of the disease reported in other regions of the world apart from the west coast of North America be discussed as well? --Uncommongrackle (talk) 08:01, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
