Untitled[edit]

There are two courthouses on University Avenue within a block of each other, just north of Osgoode - one at 361 University at the southeast corner of University and Armoury St., and one at 393 University just north of Armoury St. - and there is also the Federal Court just south of Osgoode at 330 University, so perhaps it would be useful to change the "University Avenue Courthouse" reference in the penultimate paragraph to reflect more accurately which courthouse is connected to Osgoode via the tunnel. (It connects to the courthouse at 361 University). {Jazz2006 00:36, 8 November 2007 (UTC)}[reply]

Judge Walter Martin[edit]

Abstract (sorry it had lost its date probably 1968) From an old newspaper cutting, Zena Cherry wrote “York judge performs one wedding, participates in another” Glenview Presbyterian Church the marriage of Lynda Martin (she had a twin Lisa) to Bradford C Heintzman Lynda daughter of Judge Walter M Martin and granddaughter of the Hon. Walter Melville Martin of Regina . He retired in 1961 at the age of 84 as Chief Justice of Sakatchewan. In 1903 he graduated from Osgoode from 1908 to 1916 he was MP for Regina. Then when Sakatchewan’s Premier Walter Scott went insane Martin became Premier in 1916. From 1922 he was in the Court of Appeal; he became Chief Justice in 1941. Walter Martin also graduated from Osgoode. He was Canada’s number one ranking tennis player from 1933 to 35, on Canada’s Davis Cup Team 1930-35. He was Judge Advocate General for the RCAF Overseas. After that fracas he was senior counsel in the Attorney General’s Department. In 1967 he was appointed to the Bench as Senior County Judge County of York

My interest is in walter Martin my mother then Enid M Jarrett worked for him in London during World War 2. Even then he was still a keen tennis player as he played at lunchtimes on the courts in the grounds of Lincoln's Inn Fields
