This information is sourced from an article on press.lv, which states: 'По подсчетам современных историков, во время восстания погибли примерно 7 тыс. горожан.' ('According to the calculations of modern historians, about 7 thousand citizens died during the uprising.').

However, the referenced article does not provide a link to any research by historians substantiating this figure.

Moreover, the press.lv article is a re-publication of another piece from aif.ru titled 'Московская резня 1611 г. Как впервые была сказана фраза «шапками закидаем»' ('The Moscow Massacre of 1611. When was the phrase 'we will throw hats on' first said'). The aif.ru article, too, lacks reference to any research, and its author (profile: https://aif.ru/opinion/author/358) is not a historian.
