Directions[edit]

Some of the directions used in the descriptions of features on the mountain suggest that the writer(s) did not look at a map. So the "debris tongue formed by a rock glacier" that "extends into Cwm Croesor" is not on the west of the mountain but on the north, as is Croesor Quarry; this can be seen from the map linked to by reference 3, which shows the boundary of the SSSI, which does not extend to the west of the mountain. This map also shows that Rhosydd Quarry is not to the "north west", which would put it in Cwm Croesor, but north east from the summit, and that Moelwyn Quarry is to the south east rather than the east. The quarries in Cwm Orthin can also be seen to be to the north east, not "on the north slope of the mountain", on the OS 1:25,000 map.
