inappropriate language

The article definitely needs to be edited. Stanley clarke has used quite a bit of slap-n-popping on his songs (perhaps even more than fingerstyle playing) which this article seems to deny somewhat. There should be proper sources to account for weasel words("regarded as one of the best bassists of the 20th century"). User: Leif edling 11:30 AM, 1 Oct 2007 (UTC).

LJ or Synth bass?

The article says that LJ played on 'Don't stop til you get enough'. However, it seems to me that this one clearly has its bass part played by a synth and is probably the song of 'Off the Wall' that's the least representative of LJ's bass playing. Am I wrong?

Well folks Stanley Clarke in that time period did not use the slap method... Louis Johnson relly did bring it to the fore front mainly through the new sound of active pickuos which were developed with the Music Man Bass which was custom made for Louis Johnson... However Louis didnot create the slap and pluck method ... He himself in his instructional videos gives credit to Larry Graham for that and states he was his influenece... Larry's slap and pluck can be heard in his late 60's work with Sly and the family stome ... IE Thank you for letting me be myself (Of course the true title is phenetic spelling). The sound is just much different due to the passive pickups used then. death date

Cause of death

The cited source for his death - here - states that he died of liver failure. However, his (claimed) wife, in this edit, has stated that his death was caused by oesophageal bleeding. There is a Facebook page here, "Justice for Louis Johnson", stating that "Questions need to be raised regarding his final days by those that were entrusted with his care." Another posting states: "Contrary to Bass Player Magazine article, sept 2015. Louis did NOT die of liver failure . He did NOT have cirrhosis at all, in fact he had been quite healthy for two years. He died of a gastro intestinal bleed of the oesophagus which he had problems with on and off over the years." His cause of death is clearly contested, and until further information becomes available and is published in reliable sources my view is that the article should omit any mention of his cause of death.
