original page deletion[edit]

the original page was deleted, I believed this to be unjustified so I made a new one, unfortunately I lost all the citations so the community will need to fill that in. :) Travelling nomad1 (talk) 23:08, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, this is a very important and useful page with information not easily available anywhere else. I come to this page often to find the "real" Imaxes vs the likemaxes. Mattximus (talk) 23:53, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also routinely use this resource and was dishearten to see it's deletion thanks for restoring it 24.27.97.198 (talk) 00:02, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for trying to restore a part of it. The compilation of technical information presented here was not available on other sites ever since LFExaminer stopped being updated. Given the numerous other niche lists on Wikipedia, it seemed entirely appropriate and not a mere generic directory. FriendlyToaster (talk) 03:49, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I hope it doesn't get deleted and that the community can continue to update it. please help us make sure that it doesn't get deleted! Travelling nomad1 (talk) 04:11, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, I contributed my 2 cents to the vote. However, I think the opposing side has made some good points and arguments. It's ok if it doesn't work out, there's always other options! I wanted to say, it looks like you're still fairly new and this is likely a rather intimidating welcome to the wiki editing world. No worries though, the community here has generally been very friendly (in my somewhat casual experience over the years, haha). I'd encourage you to keep learning the process, keep finding topics you're passionate about, and keep contributing useful things here. We all have something good to share, even if it doesn't always work out. :) Cheers! FriendlyToaster (talk) 14:54, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because (this is a very important page to a large community of 30k people, it spurs debate and informs decisions. that is shown by its predecessors large traffic and active community of editors). --Travelling nomad1 (talk) 02:18, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion is neither based in policy nor sufficient to overrule community consensus. The path to restoring it is WP:DRV if you believe my close was wrong. Star Mississippi 02:39, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the author that the page should not be deleted, I just think they have not quite stated their case correctly. I think the reason is that this new page does not seek to reverse the deletion of the old one, this article seeks to address the concerns with the old page and create a new one that meets Wikipedia's standards for inclusion. The primary complaint on the old article's deletion was that it violated WP:NOTDIR. This new article seeks to remedy that issue by creating a page which is not a simple listing, but provides important encyclopedic information about the IMAX format. This article will include useful insights into various different types of IMAX projectors and theatres. The goal of this article is much more comparable to something like List of films released in IMAX or List of drive-in theaters than anything that could be considered merely like a "phone book" as is specified in WP:NOTDIR. —JmaJeremy 03:01, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have brought the article to AfD for more eyes. It is substantively the same and does not yet address the issues raised in a near unanimous deletion. Star Mississippi 03:09, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
how would you suggest we address the issues raised? Travelling nomad1 (talk) 03:15, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In draft space or via Deletion Review rather than re-creating because you felt it was unjustified. That's not how consensus works. But now the community will decide again. If it closes as delete, I hope you will follow one of the suggested processes rather than simply recreating because you find it helpful. Star Mississippi 03:19, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with this, although it will take time to reach that point Travelling nomad1 (talk) 03:31, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I entirely agree with this and I am sorry that I did not state this originally i'm not very familiar with wikipedia's deleting proces Travelling nomad1 (talk) 04:14, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not delete, we may be able to tweak the title a bit though, but it is not a directory but it contains information very hard to find in any other place on the internet. Wikipedia is not paper, if it's a useful page why delete? Mattximus (talk) 23:40, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because (it is very useful when planning where to see movies in IMAX, I have used it several times in the past. ) --171.7.51.112 (talk) 02:40, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removing speedy deletion notice[edit]

This page does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion. It is not simply a recreation of a deleted article, but a brand new article that seeks to address the issues that people had with one that was deleted. —JmaJeremy 03:04, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese IMAX sources[edit]

I could not find many sources for IMAX theatres in China, if anyone is more knowledgeable on that then could you please cite the infomation Travelling nomad1 (talk) 07:41, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
