Captain Randon Orders Soldiers to Kill Napoleon 1815[edit]

I'm astounded that no mention is made of Randon's famous moment in history! One where he was ready to change the fate of the world. He was an assistant officer in the military staff of his uncle General Marchand in early March 1815 in south France in the Grenoble town area. He was involved in the mission to intercept Napoleon Bonaparte's march on Paris that was part of the former emperor's bold adventure in his escape from exiled detainment at the island of Elba which continued from his landing in south-west France with 1,000 personal guard troops. In response to the threat, the current unpopular ruler of France King Louis XVIII alerted his regional Royalist commanders to patch up resistance efforts with soldiers and officers who were largely anti-Royalist. Captain Randon was sent by Royalist commander, General Marchand ( who commanded several thousand troops in the Grenoble region ) to accompany a battalion of the 5th Line infantry regiment that was due to intercept Napoleon's march northwards. In one of history's most famous critical showdowns and briefest stand-offs, Napoleon had his small force of accompanying troops resist presenting themselves in a battle ready mode as they advanced face to face against the 5th regiment who were hesitantly readying themselves to fight with bayonets fixed and muskets aimed. At this point Napoleon boldly stepped forward in front of his side of troops and flamboyantly dared his visibly wavering opponents to shoot him - their emperor. At this point Captain Randon who was beside the Royalist troops yelled at them to fire - but quite decisively the soldiers mocked the order and jubilantly declared their loyalty to Napoleon right away. Captain Randon smartly rode off being hotly pursued by several of Napoleon's entourage also on horseback.
