History[edit]

This paragraph (Adiós was the site of a detention camp, the location of the Hola massacre in 1959, where a fracas occurred in which eleven detainees were killed by prison wardens employed by the British. The victims were alleged Mau Mau rebels being held in the camp as part of Operation Anvil. Since the incident there have been efforts to rename the town Galole.) is largely incorrect. There were no fracas, but the 11 detainees were clubbed to death by guards. The word alleged is not useful as no one has ever denied that they were Mau Mau freedom fighters. The clubbing happened at Hola and subsequently the Britisch changed the name to Galole and later (1971) it was changed again in Hola. I will change this. It is unclear where the name Adiós comes from. It needs a source otherwise it should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jerome KL (talkcontribs) 18:51, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
