What does complementary mean?[edit]
What does complementary mean in "Google Translate is a complementary translation service developed by Google in April 2006."?Italic S C Cheese (talk) 08:23, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- I'm going to assume it means full-featured. Open to better wording, since I don't think it's in the source (could be wrong). InfiniteNexus (talk) 19:02, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- I've changed it to "web-based free-to-user". S C Cheese (talk) 11:53, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
RfC on 9to5Google as a source[edit]
There is an RfC at WP:RSN on reliability of 9to5Google as a source.[1] Only 3 opinions have been given in about 19 days. More would be appreciated. -- Yae4 (talk) 15:28, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
Languages in development[edit]
Languages in development should be put back. It is important to know what languages will be coming through. 24.108.18.81 (talk) 04:29, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- -- I think there should be no issue putting back the language in development. Based on this research paper(https://arxiv.org/pdf/2205.03983.pdf) and secondary sources (https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/technology/google-building-a-1000-language-ai-model-to-beat-chatgpt/articleshow/98474049.cms). - @Star Garnet:, can you bring back the Languages in development section with modernistic tabular form :-) . Rocky 734 (talk) 03:03, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- So sorry about that! I hadn't intended to delete that subsection; I even updated it before table-izing the main section. If anyone wants to suggest info that would be better-served by a table vs. a list, I'd be happy to convert it. (I don't think there's any RS way to source how long a language has been in development?) Star Garnet (talk) 03:17, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

- Sorry for the late reply, Thanks @Star Garnet for bringing back the Languages in development section.
- >any RS way to source how long a language has been in development?
- I don't know but shall try my best to find out the reliable source. I will update here, If I will get any. Rocky 734 (talk) 14:29, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

- Hello 2600:1702:3380:AE00:3CE1:ECD2:6FD:AE81 (talk) 02:00, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
I think this section should be removed now that Google has phased out the Contribute feature. We can no longer tell which languages are in development. Serchia (talk) 18:20, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- You're right, but we should at least wait for I/O (May 14), when Google generally announces new languages for Translate. Joseph (talk) 18:16, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- Is there evidence that it will annouce at May 14, 2024? 216.186.51.109 (talk) 16:06, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah where is the evidence 134.204.2.226 (talk) 00:55, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- You lied to me! You didn't prove any evidence and there wasn't any new languages! 64.124.92.43 (talk) 03:33, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- Google didnt announce anything this year. I guess we can delete this section since we dont have any reference. Joseph (talk) 07:11, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- See, I told you need evidence! 216.186.51.108 (talk) 19:43, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
Transformers[edit]
added info about transformers.
I think its still the latest hotness and is still the technology that google uses. Don't necessarily know if we should attempt to add much more info about it? If anyone is a real subject-matter expert, please do, though knowing google, they'll probably replace that in a few years too. User:Sawerchessread (talk) 01:43, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
