Highest ranking?[edit]
The article states that the federal Environment Minister is the highest ranking government official. However, federal ministers do not outrank provincial ones -- under a federal system like Canada's, federal and provincial cabinets have equal rank. Federal ministers simply have higher profiles. In fact, given that the environment is primarily a provincial jurisdiction, provincial environment ministers have much greater de jure (and de facto) authority over environmental issues. 204.40.1.129 (talk) 20:38, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
