The company DRC has received notability on launching their reconfigurable co-processor that slips into a standard socket_940. I propose adding article and disambiguation. I have no connection with said company. --19:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved. Number of entries on a disambiguation page does not preclude one from being primary. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:34, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DRCDRC (disambiguation)Democratic Republic of Congo is clearly the primary topic (for example). No other entry on the dab list comes close in terms of usage and long-term significance. Brycehughes (talk) 10:43, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. Disambiguation pages should be labeled as such. 3K008P9 (talk) 08:49, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You might think that, but that is not the current consensus per guidleine at Wikipedia:Disambiguation. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:12, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. It is difficult to ascertain the primary use for abbreviations, but in this case I think it's right to say that Democratic Republic of Congo is primary in terms of being what most readers want when searching for "DRC". DRC should therefore be a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:12, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The DAB has twenty-seven entries and so I find it unlikely that the Democratic Republic of Congo would meet WP:PRIMARYTOPIC by usage. (But there are entries such as Disaster Recovery Center, a redirect to Backup site, where the term is not mentioned.) Page views show that "DRC" has only 1% of the views of "Democratic Republic of Congo", so clearly the vast majority of readers find thea article without using the DAB. As for long-term significance, to pick one example the Challoner revision of the Douay–Rheims Bible has been around since the mid-18th century, whereas this country has changed names very many times and has only been the DRC from 1964 to 1971 and from 1977 to the present. 85.238.91.38 (talk) 09:45, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Your reasoning is a bit off. Of course "Democratic Republic of Congo" receives more page views than "DRC", since it is not only the target page but also an enormous country, receiving views from all routes, including direct from search engines, incoming links on external websites, etc., along with any views via the DRC disambiguation page. Moreover, it is beside the point that "Democratic Republic of Congo" receives more pages views; what matters is whether Democratic Republic of Congo is the primary usage vis-a-vis other DRC disambiguation entries. On that note, the Douay–Rheims Bible is generally abbreviated DRB, not DRC, unless the reader is specifically looking for the Challoner version, and so the Douay–Rheims Bible (DRB) is not nearly as significant as the Democratic Republic of Congo on the DRC disambiguation page.
