Given that arsehole has been in use in British English for a lot, lot longer, surely the most obvious explanation for the first use of asshole is that it is just an Americanization of an already-existing word - possibly when US soldiers were stationed in the UK during WW2? 86.133.215.69 (talk) 17:26, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
