The Dungeon[edit]

I remember about 40 years ago when I was a kid (born and brought up in Ardrossan), that some vandals had knocked a hole in the side of one of Ardrossan castle's walls and there was another set of rooms underneath. A few of us went down and had a look since it took the council a couple of weeks to brick it back up again. You can still see the councils handywork - if you are allowed to get that close to the castle these days as it is considered unsafe. It is situated quite close to the pictured 'Larder'. If you are standing looking down at the 'larder', turn to your right toward 'Winton Court' direction, and take a few steps toward the 2 worn steps leading toward Winton court, you will see on the wall clear evidence of 'newer' cement and a different lay out in the order of the bricks. The 'real' larder perchance? The 'Larder' was more commonly known amoung the locals as 'The Dungeon' There are still many who say there is a tunnell from the Castle to the 'Keep' situated along the North Shore, the ruins of which still remain. Some have boasted that they walked the tunnell, others doubt it saying it cannot have existed as it would have been submerged by the sea.¬¬¬¬StepperOther Rooms under Ardrossan Castle —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stepper7 (talk • contribs) 00:54, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

Thanks to TravisNygard for the five new images, very useful and helpful. I have reformatted the page to give what I hope is a better layout of all the images. However, I think that these new images are all very similar, and their number should be reduced to just two, or at most, three. I've taken one of the images to the infobox and deleted one of the photos because it was not very relevant since the others showed better detail i need someone to change the structure of the entire article to fit the location map and infobox Mephiston999 (talk) 17:28, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
