Purple water[edit]

It might be nice to mention somewhere in the article how the algae turns the water outside the city purple (you can see it in salt picture in the gallery). I don't know how unique that is, but I believe it's one of the things Aigues-Mortes is sort of known for; I don't have a source handy, which is why I'm mentioning it here first, in case any of this article's regular contributors have anything. —Politizertalk • contribs ) 16:47, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed that. It is actually in the salt pans and I was under the impression it was due to the salt making process and not algae, but you may be right - presumably some algae that positively thrives in a high salinity habitat. Would be nice to know, either way. Incidentally, there is an interesting website from the salt company at [1] - most of it available in English. Emeraude (talk) 17:13, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

language[edit]

the article seems to be a translation from the French and needs a going over to turn it into idiomatic English. Actio (talk) 00:37, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
