"Sequestration"

No country apart from the USA calls spending cuts "sequestration". It is an invented word and a euphemism. I suggest that it be avoided, and the proper term - "Budget cuts" - be used instead.Royalcourtier (talk) 22:55, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

I disagree. It even has its own article budget sequestration and its use was appropriate here, had it been accurate. However, I have removed the following section, titled "2013 Sequestration" from the article on the basis of accuracy. As shown by the first words of text, the referenced article discusses the impact of the 2013 Sequestration on Air Combat Command. The 14th falls under Pacific Air Forces. Moreover, the cited source states specific impacts on specific squadrons and the 14th is not mentioned. The article does not apply. --Lineagegeek (talk) 11:58, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

Air Combat Command officials announced a stand down and reallocation of flying hours for the rest of the fiscal year 2013 due to mandatory budget cuts. The across-the board spending cuts, called sequestration, took effect 1 March when Congress failed to agree on a deficit-reduction plan.

Squadrons either stood down on a rotating basis or kept combat ready or at a reduced readiness level called “basic mission capable” for part or all of the remaining months in fiscal 2013. This affected the 14th Fighter Squadron with a reduction of its flying hours, placing it into a basic mission capable status from 5 April-30 September 2013.
