The Namibia national badminton team (Afrikaans: Namibië nasionale pluimbalspan; Khoekhoe: Namibiab Republiki dib pluimbal khoen) represents Namibia in international badminton team competitions.[1] It is controlled by the Badminton Federation of Namibia. Namibian badminton players first competed internationally at the 1992 African Badminton Championships.[2]

History[edit]

Mixed team[edit]

Namibia competed in the team event at the 1992 African Badminton Championships. The team placed third in their group and failed to advance to the semi-finals. Two years later, the team achieved bronze at the African Championships after losing to Mauritius.[3] The same team that won bronze at the 1994 African Championships later participated in the Commonwealth Games but did not take part in the team events.[4]

In 1998, Namibia achieved second place at the Southern Africa Invitational Badminton Championships in Harare, Zimbabwe.[5]
