Meshgin-e Sharqi District (Persian: بخش مشگین شرقی) is in Meshgin Shahr County, Ardabil province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Lahrud.[3]

Demographics[edit]

Population[edit]

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the district's population was 17,627 in 4,467 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 14,322 people in 4,343 households,[5] by which time the village of Fakhrabad had been elevated to the status of a city.[6] The 2016 census measured the population of the district as 12,663 inhabitants living in 4,479 households.[2]
