Please set "Color" to light -- How?

This is driving me insane... I get the following warning on every page load:

Native dark mode has been enabled. Please set "Color" to light theme to avoid conflicts with the dark mode gadget to suppress this message. More information

I cannot find any place where I could set "Color". It's not visible on the page, not listed in Preferences/Appearance or in Preferences/Gadgets or anywhere else I tried to look for it. I'm using the default Vector (2022) skin, no custom adjustments; relevant gadgets enabled: dark mode toggle, core styling for dark mode gadget.

This page is apparently a stub. There was some more content here for a short time today, both added and removed again by @MusikAnimal (I hope tagging like this works for notifications). An appearance menu was mentioned (with a screenshot even), but I simply cannot locate it. Scratchy (talk) 18:34, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

A few minutes after I wrote this, I did find the appearance menu that managed to elude me for over an hour... for the record, if it's not next to the article (desktop: to the right, mobile: don't know), it's behind the icon that looks like an old-fashioned superhero mask, next to the user name. For some reason this icon looked to me like it was related to privacy, so I ignored it, but I guess it's meant to be thick-rimmed spectacles rather than a superhero's/burglar's mask.

Anyway, it worked (mostly). I selected "Light", and now the warning only appears on pages that are always in light mode, like this one. Scratchy (talk) 18:52, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

When you first saw the notification, it linked to MediaWiki:Gadget-dark-mode at Special:PermaLink/1224167623, but we've moved the content to MediaWiki:Gadget-dark-mode/compatibility with native. Sounds like you're all set, but in case it wasn't clear, the Dark Mode gadget can be disabled in favor of native dark mode, if you prefer.

Pinging @Jon (WMF) about the Appearance menu icon. I also did not know this was here! I had seen it, but just never clicked it. I think the icon should at least have a tooltip like the other icons.
