Marthad'ilan Yu'nim (Arabic: مرثد ألن ينعم) real name Marthad ibn Lakhni'ah ibn Sharhabil Yakkuf al-Himyari, was a king of Himyar who reigned in the late 5th century CE and early sixth century CE.[1][2]
In the books of Arab heritage, Marthad'ilan Yanuf is known as Marthad al-Khayr.[3][4][5]
Reign[edit]
Not much is known about Marthad'ilan Yu'nim, and there is only one inscription which confirms his reign.[1][2] Based on inscriptions, it appears that he is the son of Lakhni'ah Yanuf, a son of the Himyarite ruler Sharhabil Yakkuf.[1][2] There is an inscription which describes the construction of a synagogue by Marthad'ilan Yu'nim.[1][2] Christian J. Robin believed that Marthad's reign ended after 485 CE.[2]
Military campaigns[edit]
Marthad'ilan Yu'nim intervened in a war between the Banu Bakr and Banu Asad tribes, sending a large force to restore order.[3][4][5]
