Tim Alings (1995 - 2022)[edit]

was a Dutch marketing professional and social media influencer who tragically passed away in the 2022 Þingvallavatn plane crash.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Tim Alings, born in 1995 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and raised in Antwerp, Belgium, was the middle child in a family of medical professionals. He completed his tertiary education with a bachelor's degree in international business, studying at University Colleges Leuven-Limburg and London South Bank University. His educational journey was enriched by international experiences, including living abroad for extended periods in Barcelona and London. These diverse cultural exposures contributed significantly to his global perspective and understanding, shaping his future endeavors in the marketing industry.

Career[edit]

After completing his studies, Tim Alings began his professional career as a marketing manager at Suspicious Antwerp, a Belgian lifestyle streetwear brand. In this role, he brought his expertise in international business and marketing to contribute to the brand's growth and success.

Death[edit]

Alings was one of the four fatalities in the 2022 Þingvallavatn plane crash in Iceland on February 3rd, 2022. The aircraft, a Cessna 172N (TF-ABB) carrying Alings, two other influencers, and an Icelandic pilot, disappeared during a sightseeing trip from Reykjavík Airport. The plane attempted to land on the frozen surface of Þingvallavatn, but the ice couldn't support its weight and it sank. The wreckage and the bodies of all on board were recovered in a large-scale search and rescue operation.
