Draft:The mountain

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

To come here would be a wish for death. What you would look up to see would be a great mountain, or what used to be a great mountain. Now it was black and hard with streaks of molten magma slowly bleeding down the great mountain’s side. Where once there was a great peak, now there was nothing; the peak had blasted off during the eruption leaving giant, jagged spikes pointing up to the dark, flaming sky. Under the spikes lay a gaping hole. If you were to look down into it, you would see a great pool of thick, bubbling, hot, molten rock. The great mountain used to stand so tall, so majestic in its beauty with lush soil and beautiful trees. It used to be a symbol of majesty and strength, but now only stood to torment those who used to value its beauty. The mountain that used to hold life now destroyed it. How can this be? Was the mountain always flowing veins of molten rock? Was the mountain always ready to destroy everything and every one who used to boast of its beauty? Around the mountain, where trees used to stand tall, there is nothing but destruction. The mountain’s wrath left a bare, dusty, dry wasteland with smoke emitting from places along the ground with tree roots and charred wood displayed like the bones of fallen soldiers who died battling an army of fire. Again the survivors ask, why? How could the mountain do this to us? It was our source of wealth and fame. Does the mountain torment us? Laugh at our despair? Why, what was the purpose? When the destruction came, we were feeding our beloved children and supplying the guests that came to see the great mountain with food. Then the mountain let out its wrath exploding causing a shock wave that destroyed all the houses near it! Leaving wood littered everywhere. But this wasn’t the worst, for soon they were covered in ashes leaving no traces of color. The only things that stood were the concrete foundations left gray and covered in a thick layer of ash. The children cried out for fear. We told them everything was going to be alright. But we could not protect them but we failed! Oh mountain why! How could you torment us so? With your molten metal, you rained upon us, you let your hand fall and left destruction. But in the future, the mountain will be restored, and man will boast of your beauty again. For the mountain laid waste of old things for new things to come
