Robert Frost Middle School in Deer Park, NY, is a public middle school, located at 450 Half Hollow Road, part of Deer Park School District. Named after illustrious poet Robert Frost, it opened in 1967 as a junior high. It is the only middle school in the Deer Park School District and serves students through grades 6-8.[1]

Academics[edit]

In 2023, the school met the state average passing rate in test areas. The school's 11.1 student-teacher ratio does not meet the 12.8 state average.[2]

Events[edit]

On Thursday, May 16th, 2024, an unnamed student brought a BB-gun into the school premises and made threatening remarks to other students within the middle school. According to the school's superintendent, a classmate reported the student to school officials after seeing the students behavior and weapon. According to the Suffolk County Police, the student faced a charge of misdemeanor and aggravated threat of harm.[3][4][5]

Feeder patterns[edit]

Students enter the school after completing sixth grade at John F. Kennedy Intermediate School, the only intermediate, and other secondary school in the district.
