Draft:List of largest immigrant groups in the United States

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of largest immigrant groups in the United States as of 2021. It shows the populations of foreign-born residents in the United States categorized by their country of birth. A foreign-born person, for the purposes of this list, is defined as the United States Census Bureau describes it, as someone who is born without U.S. citizenship.

The data source for the main list is the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey.[1][2] The American Community Survey is a large demographic survey collected throughout the year using mailed questionnaires, telephone interviews, and visits from Census Bureau field representatives to about 3.5 million household addresses annually, regardless of their legal immigration status.

List[edit]

In the list below, foreign-born residents in the United States are categorized by their country of birth and categories' estimated populations in 2019 and 2021 are shown (data from 2020 is not available due to complications caused by the COVID-19 pandemic), as well as changes between the two years, in both raw numbers and by percentage. The list is initially sorted by population size in 2021 but the user can click on the table headers to sort by any column.
