On October 10, 1779, the principalities of Chemguy, Besleney and Kabarda jointly coordinated the offensive. The leaders were Misostiko Bat and Kaunshayko Adiljeri. As a result, the Russian armies temporarily withdrew from Circassia.Catherine II considered the situation in Kabarda so serious that in July 1779 she issued a secret order authorizing freedom of action for Russian troops in Kabarda. "... We command," we read in the order, "to curb them (Kabardians), to organize a detachment of troops and bring them into proper obedience."
