Dr. Philip Stone Gibbs (April 20, 1943-June 8, 2023) was an American anesthesiologist and treasurer of The Gibbs Family Foundation.[1]

Life[edit]

Gibbs was born in Indianapolis, on April 20, 1943, the son of the late Aaron C. and Miriam S. (Stone) Gibbs.

He was a 1961 graduate of Mooresville High School and a 1968 graduate of Indiana University[2] School of Medicine. For his military service he practiced medicine at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland for two years. Returning to Indiana, he practiced and taught medicine for 37 years in the Anesthesiology /ICU Department at Indiana University Medical Center[3] in Indianapolis.

On June 6, 1965, he married Cynthia A. (Matthews) Gibbs in Clayton, Indiana. The couple had two children.

Gibbs was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon, the Indiana Society of Critical Medicine, and Civil War Medical Museum.

Gibbs died on June 8, 2023, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana.
