Facundo Damian Batista is a scientist and professor who is an expert in B cells and antibodies. Batista studies their fundamental biology and their applications to immunology and vaccine development.[1] B cells are white blood cells that create antibodies and are a critical part of the immune system.[2] His findings have been published in many leading journals, including Nature, Science, Immunity, The EMBO Journal, Journal of Experimental Medicine, and Nature Immunology.[3] Batista was awarded fellowships at the Academy of Medical Sciences (United Kingdom)[3] and the American Academy of Microbiology.[4]

Batista is currently a professor of biology at MIT[4], the chief editor of the EMBO Journal,[1] and an associate director, scientific director, and principal investigator at the Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard[5]. He contributes to the Ragon Institute’s mission to learn from the immune system to improve health.[6]
