Draft:Bodo the Younger

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bodo the Younger was the "Rufet" of the Council of Elders or Gerousia during the Second Punic War (218 to 201 BCE). Being the son of the famous Carthaginian senator "Bodo the First", Bodo The Younger had a rather easy childhood. This in turn brought about a sense of voracity and lust for power in him. He was deemed as cruel and vile by many due to his ascendant nature. In the year 230 BC, Bodo was able to join the Carthaginian Council of elders and he instantly rose in prominence through the will of his father who had been serving as the "Rufet" Chief Magistrate of the body since the first punic war. After Bodo gained valuable insights and experience in politics , his father decided to step down and make Bodo the new Rufet of Council of Elders which was seen as a controversial decision by many. Despite Bodo's unnerving attributes , he proved to be a benevolent leader who prioritized efficiency and decisiveness in his council. Disregarding his bold and autocratic traits , he was attracted to ideals of service and he implemented many polices for the welfare of common citizens. Bodo also fostered alliances with many of the Carthaginian elite but none came as close as his bond with Drecistes Bostar who had a similar persona as him.
