The Al Ghazala Intercontinental Hotel Tripoli is a partially-completed, under construction 351-room 5-star luxury hotel located in Al-Shat Road, Tripoli.[1] The hotel began construction in July 2007, and the project was expected to be completed in the next 40 months, but works were halted in 2011 due to the arising Libyan Civil War.[2]
Plans on reconstructing the hotel began on 2014, when the Area General Manager of MAN Enterprises Wassim Aouad, said that reconstruction has already started in January 2014, but actual works could not begin sooner, as many processes were still needed to be done first. And if works began as planned, the hotel will be fully completed by January 2017, and will be operated by the UK-based InterContinental Hotels Group.[3] As of 2024, the hotel is still incomplete.[4]
