Opposed speedy move request[edit]

  • Category:Amara (genus) to Category:Amara (beetle) – C2D: See Amara (beetle) Plantdrew (talk) 19:52, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Oppose speedy – This appears to be how taxonomy categories are generally named, after the taxon (with the rank as the disambiguator) and not the animal. It would be worth taking this and several other cases to a full discussion to establish a consensus on whether the categories should be named that way or should match the animals' common names as per the articles. See Category:Metius (genus), Category:Hystricidae, Category:Cuniculus (genus). I also note that Category:Calathus (beetle) was speedied in this fashion a few years ago. • Favor I slightly favor doing it. Whatever it might have been in the past, I'd understood that it's preferred now to use (in this case) "beetle," rather than "genus." I wish I could think of a way of tracking it down, but I seem to remember an instance where the same genus name is used in two kingdoms. Uporządnicki (talk) 12:02, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
