Any assistance to add appropriate notations to the Chinese 64th Group Army to reflect its participation in this battle of October 1951 would be welcomed. Mztourist I see you have edited the battle article. Do feel free to make additions to 64th Army should you wish. Port Erin Women's Detention Camp/Rushen Internment Camp[edit]

If anyone has any knowledge of internment camps on the Isle of Man, I'd be interested if you could shed any light on why this article uses the Port Erin name when it seems Rushen is correct. Thanks! Orange sticker (talk) 15:21, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've left some notes there, though unfortunately it doesn't shed much light on the matter! Andrew Gray (talk) 20:42, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Layout of wiki pages on different media[edit]

Due to a discussion at Talk:Battle of Verdun I wonder if anyone can point me towards a board that delves into the way that Wiki pages are seen on different media, a mobile phone in this case? Thanks Keith-264 (talk) 13:06, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Anyone? Keith-264 (talk) 16:00, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not aware that any such page exists. The designers generally try to keep the experiences as uniform as possible; the main difference will be the screen size. Compassionate727 (T·C) 16:34, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Someone on the Verdun talk page want to alter the infobox because the lists of names are not appearing in line on his phone. I wonder if it's his settings? Keith-264 (talk) 21:44, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
2many potential devices. But google Chrome offers that option. Alexpl (talk) 23:07, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Keith-264, I am unaware of any page that specifically deals with differences etc in displays on mobile devices. While I don't use a mobile device, I am aware of two particular issues. Mobile devices do not use a side-by-side display for the infobox and text. Instead, the infobox (and sidebars) display first before the text of the lead. I think that this also happens with images in the body too. Collapsed list in an infobox don't work. Instead, they display the uncollapsed list. Cinderella157 (talk) 23:22, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    OK ta. Keith-264 (talk) 09:23, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On Firefox, at the right side of the url address bar, there is a rectangle "sheet" on articles. That toggles between views. Other browsers must do the same thing? Sammy D III (talk) 17:16, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Italics?[edit]

Someone recently went through and de-italicized every instance of "Take Ichi" in Take Ichi convoy. I don't actually know what the rules for italicization of ships are, but it would be weird if was promoted to FA with those wrong, so I thought I should mention it. Help on a separate wiki that I created for archiving WWII[edit]

Good evening, I apologize if this isn't the correct place to ask this question but I don't know a better place so here it is.

I am the founder of the website the WWII Archives (wwii-archives.org) which has the goal of creating the most detailed and sourced articles about any particular subject from the WWII era, and in doing so conducting, digitizing, and finding as many interviews, documents, photographs, and other scattered sources and material. Therefore despite the fact that it is run on a wiki, it isn't an encyclopedia, however an attempt to document as much as possible to bring collectively together in one place.

Anything within that time period and a bit before and after is allowed. So anyone can upload and write about their ancestors, people they've met/interviewed, and anything else that they'd be interested in. You may look around on the website and find a variety of different examples from people I interviewed (Joe McPhail) to family (Raymond Auguste Traumann), and other things (A Company, 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment). Since the 80th anniversary of D-Day is coming up, I am especially trying to start writing as many articles surrounding the subject to post and post blogs about (any featured article will be featured in the Featured Articles Blog post summarizing the subject and posted to social media).

Despite all I have done, not very many people have come onto the site and contributed it. Even then, I am not too well experienced in everything to do with a wiki to make it the best. So I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone was interested in joining, contributing, and helping out with such a project, especially some who are much more experienced with wikis than I am.

All that is required is to sign up, read the editing rules (and Multimedia Guide and Interview Guide for their respective subjects) and then anyone is free to contribute.

Feel free to reach out with any comments, questions, suggestions, or anything else by contacting me on the website. Again I apologize if this isn't the right place, however if someone has a better place for me to post this to I would be grateful. Have a nice day! Cross Project Work[edit]

Hello Millitary Historians! Editors over at the WikiProject Unreferenced Articles are discussing working with other WikiProjects to defeat their backlog. This might take the form of a backlog drive or building up a shared resource to find reliable sources. We'd like you to be involved in the discussion because Millitary History was identified as being a topic with a large number of articles lacking references - please join the discussion here. -- D'n'B-t -- 06:43, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
