DescriptionTHE MARINER ( SCULPTURE BY JOHN BEHAN)-163856.jpg
English: I knew of this sculpture which was created from scrap metal in 1975 but was never able to find it. However I came across it by accident while wondering around the East Wall area of Dublin Docklands. It is described as being located on Dublin North Wall Quay which is not accurate as it is within the Dublin Port Company office complex [East Wall Road - Alexandra Road]. I have Geo-Tagged my photographs so that it can be located if you are interested.
John Behan (born 1938) is an Irish sculptor from Dublin. He studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, and Ealing Art College, London, and Oslo's Royal Academy School.
He helped establish the Project Arts Centre, Dublin in 1967 and the Dublin Art Foundry. Notable sculptures include Arrival, commissioned by the Irish Government and presented to the United Nations in 2000 and Wings of the World in Shenzhen, China, 1991.
I have photographed many other works by John Behan.
