Français : Le sujet est tiré du roman grec de Longus écrit au IIe ou au IIIe siècle et traduit par Amyot au XVIe siècle. Longus s’est inspiré de poésies bucoliques grecques et des Idylles de Théocrite. Daphnis, un jeune chevrier s’éprend de la bergère Chloé. Mille obstacles se dressent cependant entre eux. Le tableau reprend une scène, où une cigale se glisse dans le décolleté de la jeune fille. |
